Praying at IHOP

This post was written by CCF elder Stephen Hutchins

The Internet has created many opportunities for the church of Jesus Christ. “Cyber evangelism” and “Skypeing” with missionaries are two examples of how His church has been blessed by this technology.

Another way that I’ve been blessed is to be part of a prayer meeting that never ends. Would you consider visiting the virtual prayer room at IHOP sometime?

Of course I’m not talking about the pancake place; I’m talking about the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri. What will you find when you get there?

You’ll find a group of Christians coming together for worship-focused personal and corporate prayer. A worship band assists continually and occasionally you’ll be led in corporate prayer, usually with an emphasis on missions. The site streams live 24/7 so it’s always there for you to visit for prayer, encouragement, or just to listen to the worship music.

You can also experience this kind of prayer in person at the new Justice House of Prayer in Boston, a New England prayer house plant from IHOP. Their main prayer meetings are Wednesday and Saturday nights from 7-9 pm at 135 Western Ave in Cambridge, MA. JHOP offers a podcast of their weekly prayer and worship sets on the JHOP media page.

Visiting online or in person might give you a vision of what a greater prayer ministry at CCF might look like. I’d appreciate hearing your feedback upon your return; you can comment on this post or email me.
