12 Sep “The Comeback” by Johnathan Moore
Man, whenever I hear the word comeback, the first thing that pops into my mind is this past Super Bowl. Even if you’re not a Patriots fan, you can’t deny that may have been the best comeback in sports history, and what made it even better is that it was on my birthday (February 5th in case you were already thinking of presents for next year).
While this was the greatest comeback in sports history, I’d have to say that the greatest comeback in ALL history happened almost 2000 years ago, the resurrection of Jesus Christ (sadly this one didn’t happen on my birthday). Jesus defeated death and cancelled out the captivity of sin… FOREVER.
That’s one of the greatest things I love about our God, He is a God of comebacks. Too many times in our own lives, we feel so down and far away from God. Whether it’s situations we have put ourselves in, or experiences that have just come our way, we feel it is impossible to come back from them. If that’s where you find yourself, I just want to remind you that through God, the greatest comeback is possible.
Micah, the minor prophet, talked about all the chaos that was going on around him. He felt so alone and isolated from the people of the world. Yet throughout this chaos, Micah had his hope set on God. He says “As for me, I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. Do not gloat over me, my enemies! For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light” (Micah 7:7-8).
You see, you are not alone throughout your chaos. Micah knew that he was at a low point, but that if he kept his eyes set on God, God would use his pain to bring him out on top. If you’re going through some struggles in life right now, just know that if you put your faith and hope in our Creator, your comeback is waiting around the corner. The same God who raised Lazarus from literal death, will breathe new life into your spiritual deadness.
